Writing 220 Portfolio
Hello! Welcome to Writing a Myth!
Welcome to my piece and thank you for taking the time to read it! My writing this semester focused on myths and how it connects to my Korean heritage. I’ve always been interested in the idea of how a story might change over time, which led to my first piece with the idea of the events in it becoming a myth. Then, I realized that while I always had an interest in mythology I knew next to nothing about Korean myths. So, I decided to learn more about Korean mythology, and its history in general, to fulfill my own interest and hopefully help me with future works that have to do with Korean culture.

My experiment piece is an accumulation of this as it mentions how the story from the first sample ended up becoming a myth of its own, and the influence it has on the speaker. However, this story, like the origin piece, becomes less myth focused and looks more about the functions of myths overall. As the audience I hope you can relate to the ideas spoken about, whether directly or indirectly, and think of the impact the stories of others have on you.

Disclaimer: Some of the elements in this experiment are based on real facts, and some of them are not. Be aware and enjoy reading!
