The Start

A process of writing the original myth

My first sample focused on establishing the myth that I wanted to talk about in a later series of stories. Initially, there was going to have more of a mythical and supernatural elements with a greater connection with the gods, but I decided to focus it on humans in the end. This was primarily due to  trying to establish an connection with the characters in a short draft, and struggling to do so when the main character was meant to be a god.

The first draft of my script shows how I tried to establish the meaningfulness of the flower from the start. It was difficult for me to do so because of changing the characters and not having a lot of experience of the audiodrama medium. Having to understand the limitations and benefits of a purely audio format challenged my thinking a lot during the writing process, and it was overall very beneficial.

In the Final Packet, the final draft resulted in a project relatively different from my initial premise of this project. This can be seen especially after looking at the sketch draft. I think this sample set me up well for the final experiment as it got me more experienced with not only audio writing but also gave me more background to work with.
